There are many reasons why artists are seduced into making things. It has never been a deliberate choice for me to depict imagery of a certain kind or of a particular subject. To create is a rush of excitement but also of ambivalence. I am often consumed with anxiety, as I am torn between wanting to coax emotions from my being, linking them to something concrete and also wanting to hold onto that material entity as a token of my presence.

As a result, all my creations are self-portraits. Several do not depict my likeness as they relate to others, who have either violated or embraced my nature. For better or for worse, their affect becomes entwined within my body, lived in, coded and carried with me as I communicate with the world. These works do not describe my feelings towards another but instead how I am altered at the hands of another.
